I started drawing things when I was old enough to hold a pencil, I have always liked drawing cartoon characters.
I began drawing My little Ponies in July of 2014. I saw that some people on Pinterest were uploading their drawings of ponies and they looked really fun to draw. I also wanted to try drawing them because my little sister likes to watch the My Little Pony Friendship is Magic cartoon series.
July 7th of 2014 is when I drew my first drawing of a MLP (My Little Pony)
When I first began I hadn't established my own style of drawing MLPs. I tried to make it look like the shows style as much as possible.

July 11 of 2014 is when I made one of my first characters to be in the rest of my drawings. When I drew her I was trying to make her more long and thin like the princesses in the show. I was very pleased with myself that I made her mane and tail look like it was shiny and wavy with my pencils. I had saw that some girls would do the shines in their ponies hair but had no clue how to make them until that day.
On July 30th of 2014 I discovered you could put a pin up on Pinterest asking for MLP drawing requests. (People comment on your pin asking you to draw their character) So this was my first MLP drawing request for someone.
On October 20th 2014 I began to mess around with the shape of the wings. I found that drawing the wings with points at the ends was easier for me to draw and it looked better with the way I was drawing my MLPs at the time.
October 23rd of 2014 is when I began to try and make my own unique style. I started to try drawing chibi ponies and was pretty happy with how they turned out.
October 2014 I morphed my style into what I thought would be a chibi/anime style pony because I thought it would be really cute.
A month later I got frustrated with the way I drew the eyes. My drawing skills had improved, but the eyes stayed the same. So I searched the internet and found a few pictures of eyes that I thought were pretty and started drawing my eyes like the picture below. I also began to practice drawing the face from different angles other than a side view.
In December 2014 my style changed again. I made the nose and forehead more distinct from each other and I made the rump section more rounded.
For Christmas in 2014 I received white gel pens and blending pencils. I think it helps my drawings look more professional.
In January 2015 I started to change the way I drew the pony's eyes. I like the way the sparkles look so I haven't changed the way I draw them yet.
A few days ago I drew this pony. I am very happy with how she turned out!
I have been drawing ponies for 8 months now. I think my practice paid off!
I post a lot of my drawings on my Pinterest board My Drawings and Crafts if you would like to check it out! |
Thank you for reading this post! I hope you enjoyed it.
